7 Karts signed in at Wakefield raceway park as a good crowd came by to watch!!John Singleton would set fast time followed by Aaron Fry,the Lunbeck Ironman Scott Salyers,Ryan Linkous,Shawn Flynn,Forrest Flynn and Danny Johnson.

There would be 2 heats ran with the first one lined straight up from Time Trials and the 2nd one would be inverted from Time Trials.

The first heat was a Doozy as a Singleton,Fry and Salyers would spot spots throughout the event with Singleton hanging on for the win, followed by Salyers,Fry,Linkous,Flynn,Flynn and Johnson.

The 2nd heat was also a good one as Fry and Singleton battled with the Ironman lurking and Singleton would have a chain issue and drop back late as Fry held off Salyers, with Linkous 3rd,Singleton,Flynn,Flynn and Johnson!!

The 1st feature would be lined up from Heat Points and Fry and Salyers had tied for those so,they went back to qualifying and Fry would get the pole, with Salyers on the outside, with Singleton starting 3rd,Linkous 4th,the Flynn Boys 5th and 6th and Johnson bringing up the rear!Fry would pull out to the early lead with Singleton close behind and salyers not too far back.Fry would then have chain issues and lose the lead. This gave the lead to Singleton who was hounded by Salyers, but he could never make the pass, until bad luck hit Singleton as his chain came off!!

Salyers would hold off Linkous the last 8 laps ,with Singleton in 3rd,Fry 4th,Flynn,Flynn and Johnson.

The 2nd feature would be completely inverted with Johnson on the pole but he would have mecahanical Difficulties and not Start,so this put the Flynn boys on the front row, followed by Fry Starting 3rd,Singleton 4th,Linkoous 5th and Salyers starting tail on the field!!The Flynn's dropped out early and Singleton would have Motor Mount problems and drop out too.Fry would pull to a big lead and Salyers had gotten by Linkous into 2nd by halfway and was losing ground to Fry,but Linkous would spin and give Salyers a shot with about 3 laps to go!!But Fry would hold off Salyers and Linkous and Salyers would get the Hard Charger award from 6th to 2nd!!

It was a GREAT day of racing and the fans and drivers all had fun and there was even some heated discussions among Fry and Salyers after the 3 wide side by side racing for the lead in the 1st heat, when Fry blamed Salyers for his chain going off and track officials had to separate the two!!Cooler heads  prevailed and Salyers used the passion from this Tussle to go onto the his first ever Feature win at Wakefiled Raceway park in the first feature which was for points and would jump from 5th to 3nd in points and then Fry would return the favor by winning the 2nd feature!!

This also made WRP having 4 different winners in 4 Feature events ran!!The place is racey, wide and fun!!Come on out next race and join in on the fun and action!!:D

As the flagman at the track I must apologize to the people that showed up for some of the "heated" discussions that went on !

We have talked to those involved and they have gotten over it and said it won't happen again. So I'll leave that at that.

No sense in mentioning names and what exactly happened and getting another thread started and deleted by a moderator.

Next race is on Monday Labor Day Evening I believe.

On a lighter note maybe we can teach RJ that Wakefield has an "E" in it ! lol

Thanks for the write up Scott!

Only correction I see is that Salyers is now 2nd in WRP points. Not 3rd.

Good day of racing once again @ WRP!

TRack was once again in excellent shape & very smooth & racey, we seen side by side racing throughout the day!

4 Features, 4 seperate feature winners!!!! Who will be the 1st repeat winner of 2009?

Yeah, sorry about the tempers flaring in the first heat.  My pit crew was a little out of hand and I apologize for that.  If Singletons crew hadn't stepped in and separated everyone, it could have gotten ugly.  At least the large crowd on hand got to see some excitement!  The LKA is handing down a suspension to my crew chief, Terry Coffman known as "T.C."  for "actions detrimental to the sport".

Looking back, that first heat was some of the best racing ever.  I had a blast!

RJ took your 51 in the heats.  I tried to cover up my 4 and make a 7 to go with the 1 to take RJ's 71 but I didn't have any tape!

By the way, my crew chief "TC" has calmed down.........TC is also the crew chief on a lot of the fast cars at KC.  He is also known as Traction Control.  LOL
