AP Green 30

Seven karts signed in to do battle at WRP Monday evening. The racing was as good as we have seen all season. Each racing weekend at WRP these drivers just seem to top the previous weekends performance to satisfy each & every fan in attendance.

To start the evening off, Scott Salyers would set a new qualifying track record at 6.50...But it didn't last long as just 3 karts later Jamie Roush would come out & set a new & current track record at 6.47.

1st heat action would see Jamie Roush lead from start to finish, followed by Mike May who would hound Roush the entire race but just couldn't find an opening. 3rd would go to Ed Richandoillar & 4th to Ryan Linkous.

In the 2nd heat, pole sitter Scott Salyers would not be out done...He would also lead the event from green to checkers, followed by Aaron Fry & John [Uncle] Roush who rubbed each other side by side the entire event battling for the 2nd spot..

The 3rd & 4th heats were inverted from heats 1 & 2.

From the pole of the 3rd heat, Linkous would jump out to the early lead followed by Richandollar, May & Roush. Just a few laps in, May & Roush would both take the bottom of the track to take over 1st & 2nd. This time around, May would hold off Roush to take the win followed by Richandollar & Linkous.

The 4th & final heat, pole sitter Uncle Roush took to the early lead & never looked back. He would be followed by 2nd place finisher Fry & 3rd would go to Salyers.

On to the feature:

What an event!!!!

At the drop of the green, coming into turn 2 Uncle Roush & Fry would get together sending Fry straight to the turn 2 wall. With little damage Fry was able to continue. Not getting a lap in it would be a complete restart. From th pole Jamie Roush would stick right to the bottom of the track for the early lead followed by May, Fry, Uncle Roush & Salyers to round out the top 5. Roush would keep the early lead, but not without May & Fry running right behind him lap after lap, both sticking the nose of the karts to the bottom of the track just waiting for the opening.

On lap 17 Fry would lose his left side panel off the kart onto the track, bringing out the 2nd caution of the event for debree. The running order would be: J.Roush, May, Fry. Uncle Roush, Salyers, Richandollar & Linkous. With 10 to go the racing was heating up all over the track. May all over the bumper of Roush for the lead, Fry & Uncle Roush trading paint for the 3rd position & Salyers, Richandollar & Linkous right on the bumper of 4th place running Roush. You could throw a couple of blankets over & cover the field they were racing so tight. With just 6 to go, Salyers would drive it into 4 just a little to low running into the infield tire. Bringing out the 3rd caution of the event. Running order with 6 to go would be: J.Roush, May, Fry, Uncle Roush, Richandollar, Linkous & Salyers.

Coming to the white flag, 3rd running Fry would break a chain & the kart stalled on the front stretch, with no where to go Uncle Roush ran right on top of Fry causing the to Karts to be stuck together & Fry to be pinned into his kart. This would bring out the red flag. Thankfully no one was hurt in the accident. Fry would have to call it a night though. This would really hurt him in the season points battle as starting the night he was just 28 points behind points leader Scott Salyers.

Green white checkered...The action was unbelievable. Coming to turn 3 of the final lap, May decided to make his move. He tried to go low under leader Roush. Roush held his line & May was forced to the infield. Uncle Roush, Richandollar & Salyers all took advantage. Jamie Roush & Uncle Roush raced to the line side by side. After long discussion between track officials. Jamie Roush was determined to be the feature winner. Video replay did confirm, Jamie Roush took the checkers by maybe 2 inches. That wasn't all. The exact same thing went on for the 3rd spot between Richandollar & Salyers. Richandollar would take the 3rd spot by maybe 6 inches over Salyers.

WOW!!!!

It was a crazy night at WRP as I sat a new track record at Wakefield only to be out done 3 Karts later by Jamie Roush! The old track record was 6.65 seconds and I ran a 6.50!!But 3 Karts later Jamie ran a 6.47 and this was like the 4th time that I set a NTR only to be outdone on the same night LOL!!

Aaron qualified 4th and that means I gained 4 points in qualifying!!I then won the 1st heat with Aaron 2nd and the 2nd heat Aaron was 2nd and I was 3rd,so we cancelled each other out in Heat Points!

Come feature time I was running good and then about halfway my kart started missing or hesitating!!I fell back to 6th and Aaron was 3rd!!Then lady luck would be on my side as Aarons chain snapped!!I was now in 5th with one lap to go and Aaron was out!!The leaders tangled and the top 4 almsot stopped so i went outside to pass them and they all got going again and it was like 4 wide coming to the checkers LOL!!Jamie Roush beat his dad by a nose and ed Richendollar beat me by a nose for 3rd LOL!!What a Night but I extended my point lead and hoepfully figure out whats wrong with my Kart before my Moms race on Saturday!!
